So... I'm making some services that I self host public now :)
If you want use some of these services go to https://libre.cx 😀
The services are:
* Mastodon Instance
* PrivateBin (pastebin, but private)
* Gitea (git server)
* Bitwarden (password manager)
* Miniflux (rss reader)
* Wallabag (read it later)
* Jabber/XMPP server
@karl how do you like mini flux and wallabag? Did you transition from any services to those?
@geekgonecrazy I really like miniflux, it's simple, well developed using go and have integration with read it later apps. I was using tt-rss before, but it has much more features that I needed and the main developer is not a polite guy. Before wallabag I was using pocket, I chose wallabag for it's popularity, do you know any better alternative?
@karl I saw that it was go after I asked 😁 that definitely has an appeal for me 😁. I had heard bad things about tt-rss from other users here on this instance of mastodon. I’m still using Feedly after the unspoken company shuttered my favorite reader.
Wallabag seems interesting. Especially with an app and everything and migration from pocket. I actually haven’t seen many good read-it-later style tools.
Trying to decide if I want to self host. Already am email via mail-in-box.
@geekgonecrazy give a try to see if you like 😃
@karl i spun up $5 droplet on DigitalOcean. Figured $5 was just as much as one would pay most other non-free mail services so was totally worth spending the money on. Cool thing with mail-in-a-box is I had it setup within and hour. Pretty amazing how simple.
Part of me wishes it was via docker though so could more easily toss wallabag and a few others on it
@geekgonecrazy I use docker for all my services, it's so easy to maintain 😃 for dockerized mail server there is mailcow. I'm building my server from scratch because I want to have more control over the settings and I don't want to use all the services that mailinabox and mailcow provides. Take a look at mailcow if you want a dockerized service, its really good 😃
@karl my problem with mailcow was it seemed to want a beast of a box and running way more than it really needed to.
Mailinabox has about the right amount of things. Would be curious what stack you end up with if deploying your self with docker
@geekgonecrazy when I finish I will make a public repo with the setup 😃
@geekgonecrazy the site is down for me, but I saw the github project and seems to be great. I will take a look and play with the project. Thanks for the suggestion 😃
@karl I’ll play around with it some too. I do like the idea of my mail server being portable. Even though mailinabox was a super simple setup
@geekgonecrazy docker make thing super portable, I'm enjoying every container that I make or run hehehehe
@geekgonecrazy im really happy to know that more and more people are self hosting your services and sometimes, like with mastodon instances and mail server, contributing to decentralization of the web 😃
@karl yeees! It’s about time we see people caring about privacy 😁
@karl oh how beautiful! I wish you success and thanks in advance.
@karl this is my first time somebody says such thing to me. Thank you very much for your support and attention! It is very valuable to me.
What a wonderful thing to do! Free software world has been very inspiring and positive during this difficult time.
@lohang thank you! Loved your art and also that you're using free software for make it public'
Thanks for visiting and taking a look at them! :)
@konrad Thank you for your kind words!
I know that I'll learn a lot and I'm already learning :)
Great to see that a lot of people care about privacy and decentralization!
